Gymnastics is a sport, in which athletes (called gymnasts), perform acrobatic feats – leaps, flips, turns, handstands, and more, on a piece of apparatus, such as a balance beam or with a piece of apparatus, like a rope or ribbon. It is a fun and challenging sport that involves performing moves and exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, co-ordination, grace and balance. There are 2 disciplines involved in the upcoming games which are rhythmic and artistic.
In artistic, there are 11 events, Vault (Women’s), Uneven Bars (Women’s), Balance Beam (Women’s), Floor Exercise (Women’s), Floor Exercise (Men’s), Pommel Horse (Men’s), Rings (Men’s), Vault(Men’s), Parallel Bars (Men’s), Horizontal Bars (Men’s), Team (Men’s and Women’s). For the male artistic events, there is floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bar and high bar. For female artistic, we have vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
Rhythmic gymnastics has 4 separate routines which involves hoops, balls, clubs and ribbons. The judges give points for style, difficulties and how well the routines are performed.
