Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a cricket field (oval), at the centre of which is a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch with a wicket (a set of three wooden stumps) sited at each end. The two competing teams take turns to bat, attempting to score runs by running between the wicket. While one team is batting, the other team fields. The phase of play is known as an innings. After either 10 batsmen, have been dismissed or stipulated overs have been completed, the innings ends and the two teams then swap roles. The winning team is the one that scores the most runs, including any extras gained, during their one or two innings. There are two format of cricket i.e. limited overs format such as Twenty20 & 50 overs and unlimited overs format which called Test cricket. The limited overs format such as Twenty20 (T20) & 50 overs was played over a few hours with each team having a single innings of 20 (120 deliveries) overs and 50 (300 deliveries) overs. Test cricket, played over five days with unlimited overs and the teams playing two innings apiece. Traditionally cricketers play in all-white kit, but in limited overs cricket they wear club or team colours. The biggest competition of cricket is the ICC Cricket World Cup (50 overs) that is held every 4 years. ICC T20 World Cup is also gaining momentum and this world cup of the shorter format of the game is held every 2 years.
